thanks for the memories #38
i lived in SF in late 90s - at one of the #stlblues -#sjsharks games #Demitra saw me watching warm-ups wearing my new (at the time) 3rd Jersey and gave me a wave. when the whistle blew to clear the ice, he fished a puck out of the net and then skated over to where i was standing. stopping just in front of me, he did a quick bit of stickhandling which resulted in the puck resting on the blade of his stick - all without breaking eye contact with me. he then gently flipped it over the boards, right to me, standing in the aisle 5 rows up - again, without breaking eye contact. as soon as he saw the puck come to rest in my outstretched hand, he nodded at me and skated off the ice...he only had an assist in the game, but definitely earned my 1st Star on the night. RIP Pavol - my thoughts are with your family and the families of all the rest aboard that plane...

Glen Phillips is awesome!
Glen Phillips - yes, the one from Toad the Wet Sprocket - and i are playing a game of scrabble via facebook....
no, i don't know him. i've met him a few times at shows, and even sold merch as an Aware Records Rep for once, but none of that has anything to do with how i find myself playing scrabble with him.
a friend had mentioned that she noticed he was using the scrabble app in facebook....since i like to play scrabble i started a game with him that i named, "i'm just a fan" and then took my turn, and in the chat window i wrote:
"i don't really expect you to play this given how many people out there probably have asked, but i thought i would try - even if you want to just play one word every few months when you might be unable to sleep on tour..."
lo and behold, i log back in today and find out he took his turn and i'm up! no comments from him yet, but just the fact that he's playing....very cool....
yes. i'm a fan-boy. shut up.
